Scales of Justice

Author, Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act, 2nd Edition (American Bar Association, 2006) and numerous articles on the rights of persons with disabilities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 are extremely complex laws and that has not changed even with the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act, which went into effect January 1, 2009.  The Offices of William D. Goren concentrates its efforts on ADA/Rehabilitation Act training and compliance with the aim of making those laws more understandable. Mr. Goren has been involved with ADA/Rehabilitation Act compliance since 1990 and is helped in those efforts by understanding what it means to have a disability (a congenital bilateral hearing loss 0f 65-90 db+ mitigated by hearing aids and lip reading).  Mr. Goren is also aided in his efforts to make the ADA/Rehabilitation Act more understandable by his years of teaching, which he has done full time since 1999 and has won numerous teaching awards during that time.  Finally, Mr. Goren is also the author of two books published by the American Bar Association on the ADA (he is currently in the process of updating the last edition of his book), as well as numerous articles dealing with ADA/Rehabilitation Act compliance. Mr. Goren is currently an Instructor and the Program Coordinator of the Paralegal Program at South Suburban College in South Holland and Oak Forest, Illinois.
